YAPAHUWA KINGDOM

 Yapahuwa Kingdom is an especial place situated in Sri lanka. It situated on North central province.   Yapahuwa fortress is the capital of the Sri lanka in 13th century and the one of the place that Tooth of   the   Relic of Buddha's were placed to secure from enemies. This kingdom was ruled by the King   Buwanekabahu, the son of King Parakkramabahu who at that time ruled Dambadeniya.

Among the ancient structures of Yapahuwa, the stone staircase is very impressive. There are four floors built on the slope of the rock and connected to the walkway to the Tooth Relic Temple. You have to climb twenty-four steps to enter the first layer




At the top of the rock are the ruins of a stupa, a bodhi tree and a stone tent / cave used by Buddhist monks. At the foot of the rock are several caves, one of which is a Buddhist shrine and the other has several inscriptions. The Rock Fortress bears a striking resemblance to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.
